You asked: Please keep the DMC open 24/5, especially during exams.
We're delighted how much students love the DMC! The reason we aren't able to keep it open 24 hours is primarily funding. If we kept the DMC opened we'd have to staff it. Also, we'd need to keep the College Avenue entrance open due to fire regulations and staff that, too. Unfortunately, we don't have the resources at this time to cover this additional staffing.

You said: We need more quiet study space!
We've added additional quiet study rooms on the 5th and 6th floors. They may be reserved on the scheduler on the Libraries' home page. And they're available 24/5!

Libraries' DVD collection is very popular!
You said: I'd like to see more up-to-date movies in the collection and be able to check out more than 2 at a time
Irma says: We'd love to hear your suggestions! Please put them in the suggestion box across from the Check Out Desk on the first floor or enter them in the online suggestion box.
Follow this blog to keep up with new DVD titles.
As you can imagine our DVD collection is very popular so the reason we limit to 2 DVDs per checkout is to make the collection as accessible as possible to as many people at a time.

What's new in the lower level?
You asked: What's the new space in the lower level of Jackson Library?
Irma says: The new space is for the Digital ACT (Action, Consultation & Training) Studio. They've been there for 3 years with service at the DMC Desk but now have their own improved space.
Here's what they can help you with:
Our goal at the Digital ACT (Action, Consultation, and Training) Studio is to help people become better designers and learn how to use technology more meaningfully. We support students, faculty, and staff in the creation of stronger, rhetorically and aesthetically effective digital projects.
The Digital Studio practices a collaborative approach to sessions, where designers and consultants engage in conversations about projects – conversations that focus on shared knowledge and expertise. Designers meet with a consultant at any stage of the composing process from brainstorming and story boarding to revising and adding the final touches to an assignment. Collaborative consultations and workshops help designers think and learn about:

You asked: Please bring back the gaming laboratory in the Digital Media Commons
Irma says: Due to the renovations in the lower level, re-opening of the gaming lab was delayed. It will be back soon along with other new and exciting things in the DMC. Stay tuned!

Keeping computers clean
You asked: Can you please keep the computers more clean?
Irma says: It's hard to get to the computers because they're being used so much! We usually schedule cleaning during 24/5 and early because they're not as busy then. We will look into getting more sanitizing wipe dispensers.

Have a big research project?
You asked: I need major help with finding information for a big research project.
Irma says: You came to the right place! It's the Libraries' job to help students find great information. You can come to the Reference Desk in Jackson or Harold Schiffman Music Libraries and we'll be glad to help you.
Also the Special Collections and University Archives have many wonderful resources for research projects and staff to help you use them.
You may contact us virtually via phone or chat. Another great option is to schedule an appointment with the Libraries' subject specialist or an archivist for your major. Check out our research guides for the best resources and contact information.

Libraries' hours posting
You said: Please post larger font for Library hours postings.
Irma says: We've enlarged the posting on the Connector door. The small panes on the College Avenue entrance makes it hard to enlarge. Please note that we always post holiday hours and other changes on white boards at both entrances as you see in the picture. Also, the hours are always online.
